Alcantara® has been making our everyday extraordinary. Thanks to its versatility, this material is selected by those who search for emotions through sensorial gratification and aesthetic pleasure, without giving up on functionality. From furniture to car interiors, from fashion to high tech, there is no surface that cannot be covered and make truly precious with Alcantara®.

Born in 1972 from a real technology breakthrough, Alcantara® is produced in Nera Montoro, in the heart of Umbria and it is one of the glories of Made in Italy production.
All working phases of the material, from spinning to dyeing, take place within the 450,000 square meters of the large Nera Montoro factory, near the city of Terni.

Here, Alcantara® magic is born: everything is avant-garde thanks to a very sophisticated scientific research process (unique in the chemical-textile industry, even on a world-wide scale). Production is highly automated and the company has always been committed in understanding its environmental impact and minimizing it: the Alcantara S.p.A. environmental policy is geared to provide levels of eco-efficiency that are superior to those established by current regulations.
 
This attention to continuous improvements in the quality area is also guaranteed by the numerous certifications that Alcantara S.p.A. has obtained throughout the years:
- UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification, for the conformity of the Quality Management System to international regulations. Provided by ICIM S.p.A. (part of CISQ-Automotive).
- Certification according to the ISO/TS 16949:2002 specification, provided by ICIM S.p.A. for the automotive sector.
- UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 for the conformity of the Environmental Management System to the requirements of international regulations.
- Öko-Tex Standard 100 certification, obtained in 1994, that guarantees for a non-toxic product when it is in contact with human skin.
- Authenticity certification, introduced for applications in the Interior Design world, which guarantees the originality and the authenticity of the product.

The company is also developing a project that aims at obtaining the ethical certification SA 8000 (an international standard that underlines the ethical degree and the social responsibility of a company), by March 2008.

The commercial and management headquarters of the company are in Milan, Italy, in the same building that hosts also the Alcantara® showroom. Here it is possible to see and purchase the latest contemporary design trends and to accomplish an actual discovery journey through surfaces and materials, as well as the latest Alcantara® collections, all in one exhibition: all Alcantara® contemporary world is in Milan, via Mecenate 86.

Alcantara® is a registered trade mark. The little ® stands for many things: for technology, for advantages of use, for a distinctive lifestyle, and it represents a guarantee for consumers against fakes.
