Young Designers experiment with Alcantara® at the 2006 Milan Furniture Show
May 2006Dyloan Studio Milano presented "4x4 TORTONA 16”, a project centred on the use of innovative technology at the 2006 Furniture Show.
Dyloan Studio Milano presented "4x4 TORTONA 16”, a project centred on the use of innovative technology at the 2006 Furniture Show. The aim of the initiative was for young designers to create new objects fusing technologies, materials, and ideas straddling the world of design and fashion, sectors which exalt the sensorial and functional features of Alcantara® materials. Household objects – poufs, sofas, carpets, lamps and tablecloths – were all presented. Each project was marked by the use of cutting edge technology, such as welding for example, which can replace stitching in some cases. This technology, coupled with the softness and versatility of Alcantara® materials, led to the creation of designer objects, considered unique in terms of comfort and appearance. The name of the event, “4x4 Tortona 16”, stems from the fusion of the professional experiences of the 4 participants: Tomita Kazuhiko (Interior designer) Gruppo di Istallazione (comprising a number of designers from the textile sector) Full Project Engineering and Dyloan Studio Milano. The space was divided into 4 separate areas, 4 being a multiple of the street number 16, Via Tortona. Some of the objects presented at the Furniture Show are on display at the Alcantara Spa Showroom in Via Mecenate 86, Milan.
