Alcantara® joins the WTCC with BMW’s Italy-Spain Team

The second consecutive season of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) offers confirmation of the level of interest shown by car manufacturers in touring car competitions. In fact, the car manufacturers that will race against each other during the coming season all share a passion for competition. And it is this passion for challenges and constant dynamism that makes Alcantara® proud to be BMW’s Italy-Spain Team’s partner as part of a wider partnership between Alcantara Spa and BMW Italia Spa for 2006. The championship will see the Bavarian manufacturer’s vehicles competing on ten circuits in three different continents, in front of an estimated TV audience of 300 million. Right from the first competition in Monza, BMW lined up the sports car of the future – the BMW 320si E90 - on the starting grid. This fantastic vehicle, driven by a two litre four-cylinder-in-line engine, delivers 275bhp at 8,400 revs/min and is the racing version of the BMW 320si, available in a limited number of 2,600. For BMW the WTCC represents an occasion to celebrate the new 3 series’ dynamism, performance and competitiveness.
