“De Coding – Alcantara in the Tapestries Room” is an exhibition promoted and organized by the Culture office of Milan city hall, by Palazzo Reale and by Alcantara SpA specially conceived for the Tapestries Room, and open free to the public from Thursday 4 April to Sunday 12 May 2019.
The exhibition, curated by Domitilla Dardi and Angela Rui, confirms Alcantara’s continuing interest in the most advanced contemporary creativity. De Coding marks a new phase in a cycle of exhibitions that have explored the qualities of Alcantara as a material for art and design since 2015, transforming the spaces of Milan Palazzo Reale into doorways to unique exhibition spaces both in terms of content and experience.
“De Coding” is the transformation of a particular system of signs depending on the change of the medium. The episodes on the tapestries are re-narrated through a medium like Alcantara, which is capable of amplifying the impact of the message and offering explorations in different expressive languages.
