The 6th edition of the International Symposium on sustainability, entitled “Greenwashing and Sustainability: a growing trend that needs to be addressed”, taking place on October 1st at San Servolo Island (Venice), brought together policy makers, representatives of international organizations, scientists, academics, entrepreneurs and businesspersons to discuss how the growing trend of “greenwashing” is spreading in different business sectors and how the EU is addressing this growing issue.

The role of transparent information, the need for generally accepted technical and certification standards, effective regulations, the impact of fiscal incentives and similar measure were also object of discussion.

Impact integrity and accountability are essential for the growth of impact investment and impact finance as a new asset class which can trigger true sustainability.

The Symposium also examined the specific case of polyester and recycled polyester. PET industry today is facing the challenging goal of meeting the highest environmental standards set at EU level, in order to allow a transition towards circular economy and to guarantee a higher level of environmental protection.
